Last time on What to Wear I told you I might show a photo of me karaokeing, and here I am to begrudingly deliver. I’m pretty sure my husband doesn’t believe I ever participated in karaoke given how vehemently I oppose being a part of it now… but I did. Never by myself, always in a group, always with liquid courage. Here’s proof:
When I lived in BC, karaoke was every Tuesday night. I began my short-lived karaoke career with a terrible duet that turned into a quartet featuring Summer Lovin’. Here’s a tip: Hey Jude is a great song for drunk people to sing becuase all you need to know is ‘na na na na’ and ‘hey Jude’; bonus points if you have that one overachiver who can do the ‘Jude-y Jude-y Jude-y YEAAAAH’ part.
Anyway… I attempted to recreate the whole bright/fun/don’t look at me butchering The Beatles, look at my scarf! vibe. Except instead of being in a tavern with a beer in my hand, I was inside my frigid house dealing with a photobombing cat.
Hi, I am totally awkward in front of the camera — even if I’m taking my own picture. I tried to do these in a time crunch, using my brand new remote (thanks Matt!) hence the utter lack of detail shots and the vaguely pained look on my face. I would probably actually wear this outfit to a non-karoke event these days!
Dress: Forever 21 | Leggings: H&M | Sweater: Bluenotes | Scarf: Call it Spring | Shoes: Call it Spring
Now that I’ve shared, head over and check out what my fellow What to Wear-ers are wearing!

The wonderous remote. I have one too and I’m super awkward about attempting to hide it. You’ll get used to it.
And, at least your photos are in focus. That can be the hardest part with a remote!
In other news, I really like this outfit!! That dress is adorable.
Yeah, mine seems to be really picky about being pointed just-so, so I haven’t quite figured out how to hide it yet.
I never wear that dress! It’s a bit see through, but it works with a tank and leggings. I’ll have to make sure it gets some closet rotation happening this spring.
What a lovely outfit! That dress IS adorable!
My awkward karaoke story: I picked My Sharona by the Knack, which has a long instrumental right in the middle that apparently didn’t get edited out of the karaoke version. So I had to just stand around while the tinny, electronic vibes ended and I could sing again.
Yes! Seeing “Musical Break” pop up is just awkward.
That dress is super cute! Perfect pic for a night on the town. Also I have to say your photobombing cat is adorable. He (she?) looks so nonchalant, like What up? This is what I wear to everything.
Haha! He’s our funniest cat.
haha, I love Marci’s comment about the cat! cat’s are the bomb. Very cute outfit, by the way! I don’t have an embarrassing karaoke story to share, because I’ve never sung karaoke before! I’m sure it would be embarrassing if I had a tale to tell.
Thank you!
It’s hard to take a picture without the cats popping up somewhere.
