The View from Here: Time Commitment

I’m going to jump right in this week! The question of the day is…

How much time do you spend blogging?

I’ve never really tracked or gauged it, but I can break down the numbers with a bit of guesstimating. I post five times a week — some of those posts are pre-written and some aren’t — and I’d say my longer posts take roughly half an hour to write up if not more. If I’m adding in a bunch of photos, it takes even longer! Shorter posts, like outfit ideas or quick little blurbs (like I did on Friday!) are maybe 10 minutes max. So in terms of just sitting down and writing, I’m looking at about an hour, hour and a half of blogging a week.

But I often try to stockpile extra posts for busy weeks, so let’s throw on another half hour per week, shall we? And if you count the photo editing that I do — not a lot, but I sometimes make collages or put headings on my photos — I’d wager that’s another half hour at least, depending on what computer I’m on and how slow it is.

Sometimes I just take ‘em from Instagram and save myself the effort.

Responding to comments and having conversations with people who are kind enough to read here? I’m liking the half hour increments so I’ll add another one (lazy math, I know). I’m sure there are other aspects I’m forgetting about entirely, but still, I’m up to about two and a half hours of blogging every week!

I do find it varies with what kind of week I’m having. This week, for instance, is sure to be a challenge because I’m feeling under the weather and I have exactly zero posts, aside from this one, pre-written. I also have no idea what I’m going to talk about this week and my muse isn’t quite awake.
